MONDAY UPDATE ON COLOR OF PASSION EPISODE 80
This episode: A very sad funeral, a very sad decision by Lucia, and some corporate takeover plotting. And a big (?) discovery at the end about Adriana's last day.
Amadiva and Brigida make plans to go to the funeral.
Rebeca is dressed for the funeral and needs plot earring to make the outfit complete. She has a flashback to when she argued with Al and the earring dropped behind the nightstand. Tere comes in and sincerely offers her condolences. Rebeca is gracious in accepting them but then shoos Tere out when she offers to help her find it. She's a little too harsh, and covers by telling her that Lucia might need Tere's help more. Rebeca realizes she should check in on Nora. We get a close up of plot earring lodged way deep under the nightstand.
Nora is not yet dressed. She has been crying and is clearly not in good shape to go to the funeral.
Rebeca tells her she should go and because she can't not be horrible, tells her the reason is that Nora always complained that Lucia was Alonso's favorite, so she should make sure she is there to represent herself.
Lucia is getting ready with Tere's help. Tere asks her if she will be going with Marcelo, but Lucia will go with Rebeca and Nora. Tere blames herself for not following up on Alonso's health after their last conversation. Alonso had told her that he felt sick but needed to be alone with Rebeca and had asked Tere to go. Tere feels she should not have left. Lucia tells her not to blame herself.
Rafi filled in Momster about Al's passing. Momster expresses regret but she's annoyed Marcelo didn't tell her last night. Marcelo is clearly upset and explains it was very late and there was nothing she could have done. Momster notes how affected Marcelo is by the death even though he didn't know Alonso very well. Marcelo reminds her that Al was his boss and the mother of his girlfriend. Momster offers to go to the funeral with Marcelo, but Marcelo turns her down at first, as she doesn't like Lucia. Momster says she's not going to be rude so Marcelo agrees.
Lucia is sitting at the dining room table, and Rebeca says it is time to go to the wake, and then Alonso will be cremated. First Lucia had heard about this and she blows a gasket, insisting that Alonso will be buried next to Adriana as he would have wanted. Rebeca tries to pull the wife card, but Lucia plays the "he was about to divorce you" card and asks Nora for her agreement. Nora actually agrees with Lucia on this.
Sara is about to leave for the funeral, when Ricardo stops by with a present for Leti. Sara informs him that she's not there, and she's left for the funeral of Al. Ric is surprised to hear the news and expresses his condolences. He's actually really kind and Sara breaks down. She tells Ricardo that Alonso wanted to get a divorce and marry her. Ricardo tries to reach out to her with kindness, but revealing all this has made her even more distraught. Ricardo leaves the gift and tells Sara once again he's sorry. As he leaves the apartment, we see that Alfredo (Dani's dad) a man hired by Dani's dad is in a car watching him.
Magdalena and Mario are back from the interrupted honeymoon and are at the wake with Norma. She tells them that the afternoon of his death, Alonso had been furious with Marcelo and they had been arguing loudly.
Nora, Rebeca and Lucia arrive at the funeral home.
Mags makes a point of bypassing Rebeca and going right to Lucia, who cries in her aunt's arms. Mario expresses his condolences to Rebeca. Mags asks Lucia what is up with the crutches, and Lucia will tell her later.
Rebeca goes to Mags and tells her she needs her sister. They hug and cry.
Leti consoles Lucia.
Marcelo and Momster arrive and try to give their regards to Lucia, who is very cold to them.
Rod and Sergio arrive and they get to hug Lucia. Rod has really grown up and is very kind to Lucia, and as they hug, Marcelo watches them.
That creep Vinicio shows up and tries to start with Tere. He pretends to know her, but she obviously doesn't know him. Then he plays it off as you know Lalo. Lalo interrupts all this and is very suspicious as he should be.
Amadiva and Brigida arrive. Everyone looks uncomfortable. Brigida consoles Rebeca and then Amadiva tells her they are there for her if she needs anything. Marcelo and Naz give Amador the stink-eye.
Dr. Incompetent comes to the wake. Sara had told him about Alonso's death. He expresses sympathies to Lucia and then starts a mini-therapy session, asking why she is standing alone in a different room. Can he bring her coffee? She tells him she just wanted to be alone. He starts to leave. Lucia calls him back and explains she doesn't feel like she is crying like she should cry for her dad. (I didn't get that at all, she is certainly obviously grieving for him.) Roman tells her it's important to cry and that time and Marcelo's support will help. That makes Lucia cry and Roman holds her and tells her to cry all she needs. Marcelo watches all this with a pained look on his face, as do I.
Amadiva is actually kind to Nora and asks how she is doing. She is anguished. He asks her what happened and she tells him that Alonso was alone and collapsed with a heart attack. He had wanted to talk to her mom, but she wasn't there. When the family returned, they found Al. She is pained that he died alone.
Ricardo fills in Daniela about Alonso's passing. It suddenly clicks for him that Daniela's ex-boyfriend worked for Alonso. That was the guy he tried to negotiate with. We get the only smile we get in this episode as Ricardo realizes Alonso's death means a new negotiation is needed and a takeover of the factory might be a go!
Alonso is buried next to Adriana. Everyone cries and tosses the dirt as the casket is lowered.
Afterwards, Marcelo asks Lucia if he can take her home. No, her family will do that. Marcelo asks why he is being blamed for Alonso's death. Lucia says this is not the time to discuss that. He presses and Lucia tells him even if he isn't literally responsible for the death, Lucia and Marcelo are done. She tells him the wedding is over and to leave Puebla and forget about her forever! Marcelo protests but all Lucia can think of was the last time she spoke to Alonso, which didn't go so well as he told her that she could never marry Marcelo. Rebeca says it's time to go. Marcelo asks her not to leave like this, but Lucia does. Rebeca and Marcelo exchange a look.
Leti returns home and tells Sara (who didn't go) that the funeral was nice but very sad. Sara has been crying and was too upset to make it was not allowed to go by Rebeca. Leti comforts her mom. Sara says she needs to plunge herself into work to get over the death. When Leti finds the gift, Sara tells her it's up to her whether to open it, but Sara doesn't hate Ric, because without him, she wouldn't have Leti.
Rod joins Amadiva for a meal. Amadiva invited him out to offer him a proposition. Amadiva is going to reclaim the pottery factory and wants Rod in on it. He tries to pretend like he is doing this for good Samaritan reasons (although he might be right that Rebeca is not the right person to run things). Rod is as offended as we all are and says no way. He stomps out. Amadiva is a diva about it and sends back Rod's lemonade and calls Rod cocky.
Marcelo is upset when he gets home. Momster makes a little light of it and wants him to eat something. He tries to call Lucia, who doesn't answer her cell phone.
Magdalena and Mario discuss Alonso's business affairs and finances. Alonso had cut Rebeca out of his will the day before and wanted to split the house and money 50/50 between Nora and Lucia. But Al forgot to take out Rebeca's share of the factory, which makes Nora and Rebeca majority owners. Uh-oh. Plus the partnership with Amadiva had not been completely dissolved. UH OH. Anyone reading this right now should be scared enough to make a New Year's resolution to get your estate planning in order ASAP.
At home, Rebeca checks in on Lucia and asks her if something was wrong between Marcelo and Lucia. Lucia says they broke up and asks if Rebeca is happy. Rebeca slips and says if you were so in love, why did your boyfriend tell Alonso about me and give him a heart attack. Lucia immediately asks how Rebeca knows Marcelo did this. Rebeca says that Marcelo told her himself about it. Lucia questions this as Rebeca was gone. Where was she - isn't it strange she left Nora alone? Rebeca says she went out to talk to Dr. Incompetent about Nora and then to pray for Nora at church. Lucia is dubious, but Rebeca continues giving her legitimate alibis, mentioning that she ran into Momster and then Brigida. She tells Lucia to doublecheck them. Lucia responds that she and Marcelo are done, and he's leaving Puebla. Rebeca asks if he is returning to the factory and Lucia says he is out of their lives forever. Nora won't find out what Rebeca did, and that will be buried with Alonso forever.
Sara visits Alonso's grave and comments that he's finally with his true love. She lays a white rose on his casket.
Magdalena and Lucia visit in the garden. Lucia tells her about the breakup and Alonso's last words to not marry Marcelo. Mags tries to talk sense into Lucia, but Lucia can't get his words out of her head, nor the sense that Alonso would be alive if he hadn't been so upset by Marcelo's revelations. Mags presses, but Lucia tells her to back off, the decision is made. She will never see Marcelo again. Mags says that "never" is a very "radical" word, especially considering that Lucia could really use Marcelo for factory matters. Lucia says the business is not a reason to stay with Marcelo.
Marcelo vents to Naz. Naz tells him to man up and not abandon Lucia, especially not when he is really needed at the factory.
The factory has resumed operations and a new boss shows up to run things ... Amadiva. UGH. He cheerily greets the stunned workers and whistles while he struts in. Then he tells Norma she looks great and to get him coffee. He goes back into his office, smug and satisfied.
Sara's at work too. Her phone rings. It's the hospital records guy. He has indeed determined that Adriana Murillo was admitted twice on her last day on earth. The first time, a man named Ricardo Marquez brought her in (to refresh your memories, she experienced contractions when she confronted Ricardo about cheating on Mags with Rebeca). Sara is shocked!
